The YongNuo 565EX is designed as a camera flash for the most demanding photographers. It can work on a camera's hot shoe in E-TTL, E-TTL II and TTL systems as well as wirelessly in Speedlite - Canon and C-command ( C-commander ) Nikon systems. It makes the full automatic correction for Canon and manual correction for Canon and Nikon possible.

In a slave mode, the flash can work i.e. with the Canon 580EX II flash, the ST-E2 and YN-ST-E2 transmitters, the Speedlite system, the SB-900/800/700 Nikon system camera flashes and with cameras working in C-command (C-Commander) system.

These functions allow to work i.e. with two YN-565EX flashguns in fully automatic TTL, E-TTL, E-TTL II with a possibility of correcting their power (A:B mode). If a Canon camera works in C system, three external flashes can cooperate in A:B:C mode. The first two work as before in A:B mode while the third one is independent and may serve as a supporting light source.

The YN-565EX has an in-built photocell so in the S1 mode it is triggered with other flash, even the pop-up one. In the S2 mode it can be triggered by pop-up lamps that emit the preflashes because it does not react to them.

This camera flash has very high guide number (58GN for ISO 100) what significantly improves taking photos in poor light conditions. Additionally, it supports the autofocus making it much faster even when the scene is dark. The flash head has the swivel and bounce ability which allows more creativity by reflecting the light. It is also zoomable (automatically or manually) and has in-built photocell, diffuser and reflector and a metal shoe.

Easily legible highlighted LCD screen displays actual and precise parameters of the lamp. There is also a sound that informs about loading and readiness which can be turned on or off.

The YN-565EX is undoubtfully one of the most interesting options for the photographers who want to use their camera flash as the basic light source so they need full automatics as well as the possibility of setting the parameters manually. The flash power can be reduced up to 1/128 which allows to adjust it precisely to the situation. The lamp has also a sync PC socket and a slot to attach a CP-E3 or CP-E4 type battery pack. Using a battery pack makes the flash fully recycle about 30% faster and, which is more important, it replicates much more effectively in a series mode. Without a battery pack the flashes limit in the series mode is 5, but when we use it, the limit rises to 18.
